During navratri people worship 9 forms of goddess Durga,which are as follows – Maa Shailputri,Maa Bhramacharini,Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda,Maa Skandmata,Maa Kaatyani, Maa Kaalratri, Maa Mahagauri and Maa Siddhidaatri.

This year navratri is starting from 26/09 .

 The dates are as follows –

26,sep– Maa Shailputri

27,sep–Maa Bharmacharini 

28,sep–Maa Chandraghanta

29,sep–Maa Kushmanda 

30,sep–Maa Skandmata 

1,oct–Maa Kaatyani 

2,oct–Maa Kaalratri 

3,oct–Maa Mahagauri 

4,oct–Maa Siddhidaatri 

5,oct–Dusshera

According to various stories it is said that during the 9 days of Navratri , Mata Durga fought with Mahishasur and then finally defeated him on the 10th day.

During these 9 days people observe fast,offer 16 shringar to matarani and seek her blessings.
